2026 NHRC Call for Abstracts now OPEN!

The abstract submission portal for the 21st annual Northern Health Research Conference is now open! Submit your research for consideration to be presented at this conference highlighting research activities underway in Northern Ontario.

The conference will continue to be offered in a hybrid model, and will be based out of Sudbury, Ontario, on June 3rd, 2026, with an online option for those who cannot attend in person.

This year's keynote speaker is Dr. Lacey Pitre, presenting an address titled Beyond the Map: Equity in Cancer Clinical Trial Access and Financial Toxicity in Northern and Rural patients.

The deadline for abstract submission is Sunday, March 1, 2026. Click here to submit!

Pan Northern Clinical Rounds Collective (PNCRC)

Welcome to the Pan Northern Clinical Rounds Collective (PNCRC) — created in response to feedback received from clinicians across the North. AFMC Response to Opioid Crisis:

The surge of overdoses and opioid-related deaths in Canada are a national public health crisis. The Government of Canada funded the AFMC, in partnership with Canada’s 17 medical schools, to create a national, bilingual, comprehensive, and competency-based curriculum for medical students, residents and practicing physicians interested in pain management and substance use. The evidence-based training aims to fill gaps in educational programs across Canada, including the diagnosis, treatment, and management of pain. In January 2021, the AFMC successfully developed and launched an Undergraduate Medical Education (UGME) curriculum and building on this work, we have developed a Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME) and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) curriculum.
